My Old Kentucky Home

The sun shines bright on my old Kentucky Home
Where I've lived for the past 20 years,
Even tho I'm treated fine
I must leave this home of mine
And go out and get a job away from here.

Yes, I love my old home, it's the dearest and the best
Even tho the windows rattle in a storm,
And the steps how they squeak
That's because they're old and weak
But the fire in the grate will keep us warm.

Now this old house is big and battered with old age
And it needs a few repairs in the cellar,
It has 15 rooms I know
'Cause I've cleaned them high and low
I can sure sympathize with Cinderella!

My bedroom is pink and on the left hand side
As you climb to the top of the stairs,
When I'm in my bed at night
I just lie there stiff with fright
This old house when it's dark is full of scares.

Well now it's time to go so I'll tell you all good bye
I'll be thinking of you each every day,
Write me letters of good cheer
Let me know what goes on here
At my "Old Kentucky Home" ... far away.
